Lehi studies the Brass Plates, blesses his children, explains the Plan of Salvation, and dies. Nephi and his followers separate from the dangerous “Lamanites” who sympathize with the older two brothers. The Lamanites become wild and ferocious. The “Nephites” establish a new society, with farms and crafts and new buildings, including a temple. Nephi and his younger brothers, Jacob and Joseph, preach to the people. Jacob especially uses lessons from Isaiah, a prophet whose teachings are on the Brass Plates.
